まず興味を引かれたのはそんなこのモデルが、搭載するバッテリーの容量をわずかに50km走行分にとどめたこと。高価で重量もかさむバッテリーは、その搭載量を可能な限り少なくしたいというのがアウディの考え方。実際、12kWhという容量はリーフのちょうど半分。軽自動車のi-MiEVに比べても75％の容量に過ぎないのだ。もう一点、このモデルの機能で感心したのは、そうした限られたEV走行レンジを適材適所に振り分けるという考え方。具体的には、ナビゲーションシステムに目的地を設定した時点で、経路中の道路勾配や環境保護区域、市街地などを算出。その中で優先してEV走行を行うべきところとそうでないところを計算し、そのシーンにふさわしい動力源を用いるべく制御しながら走行するという。
